Cherry blossom 桜

Cherry blossoms are a symbol of Japanese flowers. “Somei-yoshino”, the most popular species blooms light pink flowers from March to May from southern region to northern region throughout Japan. 80% of cherry blossoms in Japan is “Somei-yoshino” but they have actually more than 600 species.

I recently went to see “yellow cherry blossoms (ukon zakura)” at “kizakura-no-oka park” in Tokamachi city. They are rare species in Niigata. Just after blooming, flowers look like light green yellow and get gradually change pink color.

In the park, “somei-yoshino” is also planted. “Somei-yoshino” blooms between a middle of April to the beginning of May. After that, from the end of April to the beginning of May, “yellow cherry blossoms” blooms. People can enjoy viewing different cherry blossoms for a long time. The park is located in Shinano river side. It is small park but nice place!
